Your Stories - Lending Library kits in action around Australia!
We’ve loved hearing from educators and learning partners this term about the many creative ways CSER Lending Library kits are bringing hands-on STEM learning to life across Australia.
At Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Primary School in Western Australia, students recently took part in their very first Robotics Club using Rugged Robots borrowed from the CSER Lending Library. The students were immediately engaged as they learned how to program the robots and then watched them navigate a range of "rugged" obstacles and challenges.

The sessions were filled with excitement, teamwork, and problem-solving as students collaborated to debug, refine, and improve their instructions. As technology teacher Linda Flynn shared, "Experiences like these are what make STEM learning engaging, hands-on, and fun. We are so grateful to the CSER STEM Professional Learning Team for helping us inspire the next generation of creative thinkers and problem-solvers."
Thank you to Linda Flynn and her students at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Primary School, Western Australia for sharing their experiences and smiling faces while learning with the Rugged Robots.
Cassowary Ozobots at Queensland Museum Tropics
At Queensland Museum Tropics, the Ozobots from our Lending Library were a highlight of the recent Cassowary Coding Challenge School Holiday Program. Over the course of the program, 1114 visitors participated in the activities, with strong engagement across all age groups. The Ozobots played a central role in delivering an interactive coding experience that complemented the Born or Built? Our Robotic Future exhibition, helping museum visitors explore coding concepts through hands-on learning and experimentation. Adding the 3D printed cassowaries to the Ozobots was such a fun and engaging idea! You can find the Cassowary Coding Challenge learning activity on our Lending Library website.
Thank you to Oliver Amerena and the Queensland Museum Tropics Programming Team for creating such an engaging activity with the Ozobots.
At Murtoa College in Victoria, students explored Augmented Reality in their Digital Technologies lessons with Merge Cubes borrowed through the CSER Lending Library. Using Merge Cubes and iPads, the students were able to hold and interact with virtual 3D objects, bringing abstract concepts to life in engaging and innovative ways.

The Merge Cubes provided valuable opportunities for students to develop their digital technology skills while experiencing emerging technologies that are becoming increasingly common across many industries. Belinda Carlyon shared that it was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and excitement the kits generated, with students continuing their learning at home by downloading the Merge Explorer app and parents emailing to ask how they could extend this learning further.
Thank you to Belinda Carlyon at Murtoa College, Victoria for sharing these wonderful student learning experiences.
If you would like to find out more and register your interest in borrowing one of our robotics, AR, VR, or other Digital Technologies kits, please visit the CSER Lending Library website and join our community. It's a great time to start planning ahead for your future STEM learning opportunities.
