International Women's Day 2026
Sunday, March 8th, marks International Women's Day. This year's theme is Balance the Scales - a promise that every woman and girl - regardless of background or identity – deserves to be safe, respected, and free to shape their own lives. When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive, and society becomes safer for everyone.
Education is one of the most powerful tools for creating balance, and CSER is committed to reaching under represented groups through our programs to support equality. Access to education, opportunity for career development and achievement of economic independence are vital to creating a fair society. Inclusive classrooms and supportive learning environments, together with visible role models to inspire career aspirations, provide some of the foundations for creating a more balanced society.
We encourage you to explore our various free Mathematics and Technologies courses as they are all founded on the principles of equality, access and inclusion. Throughout our courses, we have worked with Refraction Media to ensure we have an equal representation of women in STEM careers depicted as role models in career information profiles and real-world technology innovation case studies.
The UN Women Australia website provides a range of resources to support schools engage in International Women's Day activities, fundraisers and events across Australia. In particular, the IWD 2026 'Schools Fundraising and Education kit' contains a range of inspirational case studies, facts, and class activities for schools to explore.
We wish you a happy International Women's Day and hope your school is able to have important conversations with students to support the balance of scales!
