  • Wednesday 23rd July: Maths Webinar - Making Sense of the Real World Using Mathematical Modelling

Time: 4:00pm - 4:30pm ACST (check your local time)
Presenters: Toni Falusi & Dr John West

Mathematical modelling is a powerful tool for making sense of the real world through mathematics. It supports students to explore problems, test ideas, and make informed decisions using mathematical thinking.

In this 30-minute webinar, we’ll unpack what mathematical modelling looks like in the classroom and how it is woven through the Mathematics learning area of the Australian Curriculum V9.0. We'll explore how students can use modelling to represent and solve real-world problems, and share practical classroom activities that help bring this process to life. Participants will leave with ideas to strengthen reasoning, deepen engagement, and build students’ confidence in applying mathematics beyond the textbook.
