Safer Internet Day 2025

Did you know that 11th February 2025 is Safer Internet Day?

This is a great way to start the 2025 school year and also an important message for every day in our classrooms.

Safer Internet Day is a global initiative aimed at promoting safer and more responsible use of the internet, particularly among children and young people. Find out more about this year's Safer Internet Day campaign here.

Safer Internet Day 2025

This year, the eSafety Commissioner in Australia is highlighting the campaign theme “Together for a better internet,” which encourages individuals to create a more positive and secure digital environment through three key ideas:

  • Connect safely and with purpose

  • Reflect before we act

  • Protect with knowledge.

As educators, you play a crucial role in guiding students to navigate the online world with awareness and caution.

This year’s campaign exposes some alarming statistics highlighting the urgency of online safety education. For instance, 70% of Australian adults have experienced a negative online incident, and nearly a third of young gamers have faced bullying in the virtual world. Such data underscores the necessity for continuous education and awareness efforts.
