Participants will explorate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures content in the latest version of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics. This includes the nine rich contexts that weave narratives through the six strands and F-10 year levels. Important connections will be made with relevant items viewed earlier in the Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery in the South Australian Museum such as projectile technologies (e.g. spear throwers), instructional games and fishing nets and traps. Teachers will receive access to lesson plan examples and teacher background information to support curriculum planning. Local contexts will be explored with the opportunity for some collaborative planning at the end of the day.

This workshop is held in-person on Kaurna Country at the South Australian Museum in the Royal Society Room and is perfect for Year Foundation – 10 educators. Teachers and Aboriginal educator teams are encouraged to attend.
